Centenary Celebrations
24th September 2022

What a fantastic Centenary celebration day was had by all who came along to share this important day with us! The coffee morning was extremely well attended with the Lord Lieutenant, Dr Sarah Furness, and the High Sheriff of Rutland, Geoff Thompson being there to show their support along with many other important guests. It was made more special by Rob Persani broadcasting his radio programme from the hall all morning and a particular highlight was him and the High Sheriff joining in the Zumba demonstration! We also enjoyed the Willowbrook Recorder ensemble playing and thanks to Tim Smith stepping in to lead the Tai Chi demonstration at the last minute. After a vote of thanks and a toast with some bubbles Dr Furness cut the fantastic cake Sue Hodson made for us and we all enjoyed the delicious fruit cake. The Whist and games afternoon was admittedly quieter, but we still enjoyed delicious scones provided by The Boot Inn and had time to catch our breath before the evenings event got underway. And what an evening it was! The Rutland Big Band had us all tapping our toes and dancing the night away. There were some fantastic 1920’s outfits and a jolly good time was had by all!

Thank you to everyone who worked hard to bring the whole day to life and helped the village hall celebrate in style and go forward

into the next 100 years!
